Curious about how to protect your energy?

First, let's start by acknowledging that everything in the universe is made up of energy, including ourselves. 

In quantum physics, there is then an interesting phenomenon called the "observer effect." This concept suggests that the very act of observing a tiny particle [of energy] can change the way it behaves.

So in this post you will learn how you can protect your energy with 2 simple techniques.


SO WHAT IS ENERGY PROTECTION?

Energy protection refers to the practice of safeguarding oneself from negative, unwanted or harmful energies that may be present in the surrounding environment.

Energy protection techniques aim to create a shield or barrier that helps to filter out or repel these energies, thereby promoting a sense of balance, harmony, and spiritual well-being by simply placing our focus and energy on it.


The below outlines two basic energy techniques, which when combined provide a powerful method for energy protection, helping to maintain a sense of inner peace, stability, and resilience in the face of external influences.

1) GROUNDING TECHNIQUE

Grounding involves connecting oneself to the Earth's energy and anchoring oneself in the present moment. This helps us to feel less susceptible to external disturbances and increases our ability to be more resilient.

To do this, visualize roots growing from your feet deep down into the earth's core. Much like a tree, this helps us feel stable, supported and connected.

As an added technique:
When we connect to the earth with our roots system, we can also use this moment to cleanse our energy.  Visualising that the roots are drawing away any of our unwanted or old energy back to the earth to be recycled. Whilst the roots also offer us a source of fresh and renewed energy from the earth for us to use in our present moment.  This is a lovely symbiotic use of energy, support and connection with the earth.

An alternative approach grounding is to to physically engage and connect with Nature. We can walk barefoot on natural surfaces (e.g. Soil, grass, moss, beach sand), or take part in the ever growing “Forest Bathing” where we walk and use our 5 senses to connect with our surrounds and the trees.

2) SHIELDING TECHNIQUE

Shielding, on the other hand, involves creating an energetic shield or barrier around oneself to protect against negative energies.

This can be done through visualization techniques, where one imagines a shield made of light surrounding their body, forming a protective boundary like a big protective orb.  

The shield can be visualized as impenetrable or selective, allowing positive energies to enter while blocking out negativity.

With shielding, I usually recommend an easy method called "Zipping up".
This is where you look at yourself in the mirror and you imagine that you are zipping up a sleeping bag from your feet all the way up to your head. The sleeping bag allows you to hear everything around you, but is acts as a protective layer to block out the cold (negative/ unwanted thoughts and energy).
Once zipped up, you can sense the sleeping bag all around you, keeping you safe, protected and warm. It can be any colour or material you desire or feel is appropriate for this day. For example, when you need more protection, visualise the sleeping bag to be a stronger material like lead or steel. Perhaps it is sparkly like a disc ball reflecting all the negative energy. Whatever you feel is right for you that day.

As mentioned above, when you combine GROUNDING and SHIELDING techniques, you offer yourself a powerful method for energy protection, helping you to maintain a sense of inner peace, stability, and resilience against unwanted external influences.

These techniques are usually done on a daily basis (or as and when you need) to feel more connected, supported and protected.

PLEASE NOTE:
There is no set rule to what you visualise or the approach you take.
In fact, the more FUN you have with it the better it will be as this alone will change the way you feel!!

Visualise from a heart-centred space and remember that giving and receiving of energy will only occur in equal measure.
